Lot 325 Winchester Model 1873 .44-40 #530978

Third Model' manufactured circa 1899. It features 24" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, buckhorn sights, straight wrist, finger lever latch, smooth sliding dust cover with side rear serrations, and steel crescent buttplate. Bore is dark and dirty with visible rifling. Metal surfaces show a mostly mottled brown colors, some thinning on edges and where handled or where action parts rub. Screw slots are generally very good with a missing screw in the receiver by the buttstock. The buttstock has either been worked on, or it is a replacement stock (shape and buttplate fitment is incorrect). Wood is overall sound, with minor dents and scratches throughout. Butt has good fit to tang, but has some sort of material wrapped around it and the tangs. The action is smooth. The model marking on top tang is legible, the two line barrel address is clear, and serial number on bottom tang is also legible. Brass lifter is unmarked. The screw at the end of the magazine tube is protruding out of its hole.
Condition is NRA Good.
